Alfalfa is a high-fiber legume forage hay that is sometimes called the "Queen of Forages". It differs from grass hays such as timothy, orchard grass and brome in the leaf, stem, and root structure. Alfalfa is legume hay and the protein, calcium and energy content are higher than in grass hay. Because we take special care and bale at night, you will find that Oxbow's Alfalfa Nibbles have a soft stem with the leaves attached.
Alfalfa Nibbles is an outstanding feed for young animals. It contains more crude protein, digestible energy, and calcium levels than any other forage. In addition, it has the fiber content needed for normal digestive functioning. Alfalfa provides the essential calcium necessary for growing bones. Alfalfa is also a source of important minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sulfur, iron, zinc and selenium.
Alfalfa Nibbles should not be fed to all animals. But if used carefully, in certain situations, it can be a valuable tool in nutritional management.
Due to it's succulent taste, Alfalfa Nibbles can be used as an appetite stimulant when an animal is ill or for post surgical patients. Because it is high in fiber, a small pinch can be given as a treat.Top Menu |

- Great for young animals

|
Growing Animals-Under 6 months of age - Unlimited amounts plus free choice grass hay.
Mature Animals - Occasional small amounts.
Nursing Females - Unlimited amounts in addition to free choice grass hay. |
Alfalfa Nibbles should only be offered carefully to mature rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and prairie dogs due to the higher protein and calcium content. Many vets believe that animals prone to kidney stones, bladder stones or calcium crystals in their urine should always avoid alfalfa.Top Menu |

Bunny Brome is not just for "Bunnies", but is a grass hay that is high in fiber, low in protein, and low in calcium all of which helps keep the gastrointestinal tract of all small herbivores functioning properly. A high-fiber diet will also lower the incidence of soft stools, intestinal gas and bloating.
Buny Brome looks a lot like western timothy hay, but has a wider blade. It has a different flavor that will add variety to an animal's diet. Many have compared it to a rich cured smell. Brome grass is a perennial that is grown in Eastern Europe , Russia and Canada as well as the north-central part of the United States .
Bunny Brome , much like other grass hay, is high in fiber and low in protein. Brome can be mixed with other grass hays when you feed your pet. Animals seem to like the variety. Mixing your grasses will encourage them to eat more hay, which is always beneficial to the health of the pet.
Hay is absolutely vital to the health of small herbivores. It also provides a long-strand fiber source that is needed to improve the digestive and intestinal functions by stimulating the digestive system. When animals are fed free-choice hay, it promotes their natural chewing behavior, helping prevent molar spurs and other dental problems so common in these small herbivores.Top Menu |

Critical Care is a complete "assisted feeding"
formula for herbivores that are not eating due to illness
or surgery.Whether an animal's lack of appetite is a result
of illness, post surgical recovery or pain, Critical Care
plays an important nutritional role in the patient's recovery
program. Forage based fiber is necessary to encourage proper
microbial growth in the digestive system of small herbivores.
Timothy grass hay, the main component in Critical Care ,
provides the proper balance of forage based fiber and soluble
carbohydrates needed to support the natural microbial population
in the digestive system of small herbivores.
CRITICAL CARE IS NOT SOLD
ONLINE: No appetite is normally a secondary
symptom of an underlying health problem. Due to the likely
compromised health of animals that are not eating, Critical
Care is to be used under the supervision of a veterinarian
and the guidance of Oxbow. Please contact us via e mail
at info@only4pets.com to determine what
options are available for your small herbivore. If you are

Chewable GTN-50C is a tasty source of stabilized Vitamin C for guinea pigs and other animals who are not capable of producing their own Vitamin C, as well as those needing dietary supplementation. Oxbow's GTN-50C contains only the highest quality encapsulated Vitamin C to ensure stability.
Vitamin C or ascorbic acid deficiency is the most common and most preventable disease in guinea pigs. Adults must be supplemented with at least 10 mg of Vitamin C for every kilogram of body weight. Pregnant, nursing and growing guinea pigs need at least 30 mg of Vitamin C for every kilogram of body weight.
Insufficient Vitamin C intake leads to a condition known as scurvy. Clinical signs of Vitamin C or ascorbic acid deficiency may include rough coat, anorexia, diarrhea, bleeding from the gums, lameness and pain. Delayed wound healing and increased susceptibility to bacterial infections may also occur.Top Menu |

Oat Hay is companion forage that is similar in nutritional analysis to the western timothy. Your animals will love the immature oat grain that is contained in the seed head and will benefit greatly from the fiber in the leaf and stem. Oat Hay is a good source of fiber and also gives variety to your animal's diet. This product also makes a good bedding alternative to wheat straw.
The stage of maturity at harvest determines the development of the seed head. If the hay is harvested immaturely, at the early bloom stage, the actual oat kernel is not mature. The seed heads consist primarily of oat husks, which are rich in fiber. It is at this early stage that Oxbow harvests its Oat Hay . The result is light green/tan hay with flaky oat husks at the top. Although there is no mature oat kernel present, the hay smells like oats and guinea pigs and rabbits love it.
Hay is absolutely vital to the health of small herbivores. It provides not only nutrition, but environmental enrichment that mimics the animal's natural habitat. It also provides a long-strand fiber source that is needed to improve the digestive and intestinal functions by stimulating the digestive system. When animals are fed free-choice hay, it promotes their natural chewing behavior, which helps prevent molar spurs and other dental problems that are so common in these small herbivores.Top Menu |

Orchard Grass is a green, fruity-smelling grass hay which many small animals enjoy. To the untrained eye, it looks identical to timothy grass, but the seed heads have a different shape.
Orchard Grass is a perennial cool season grass with flat leaf blades. The leaves vary in color from green to bluish-green depending on the maturity of the plant. The lower surface of the leaf is not shiny; and leaf sheaths can be somewhat rougher to the touch than timothy.
Orchard Grass is recommended by veterinarians for small herbivores due to the nutritional content. Orchard Grass can be mixed with other grass hays when feeding your pet. This is encouraged because animals seem to like the variety. Mixing your grasses will encourage them to eat more hay, which is beneficial to the health of the animal.

Oxbow Chewable Papaya Tablets are made from freeze dried papaya and pineapple, which contains the enzymes papain and bromelain. This freeze-drying protects the natural enzyme and keeps it effective. No synthetic papain or bromelein is added.
These enzymes found in papaya and pineapple may be helpful in the prevention of hairballs in rabbits. While these enzymes will not digest the hair that is ingested, it may help digest the food and mucous that surrounds the hair.
The scientific community is still undecided on whether feeding papaya or pineapple is really effective. But some rabbit owners claim that supplementing with digestive enzymes is the only way they can prevent hairballs in their rabbits, other owners say they see no difference.
The best prevention for hairballs is an ample consumption of fiber in the diet, provided by large quantities of grass hay and, always make sure your rabbit is drinking plenty of water, as water consumption plays a big part in maintaining digestive motility thus improving the health and efficiency of the digestive system.Top Menu |

Prairie Delight contains a dual source of natural forage timothy and oat hay that mimic the natural diet of prairie dogs native to the Central Plains of North America . This makes it the ideal feed to give your prairie dog. Your animal will love the sweet smell and taste, and you can feel confident that you are providing your pet with complete, balanced nutrition.
Prairie dogs are strict herbivores with digestive systems that are very efficient at utilizing high-fiber foods. Natural fiber from grass hay is required to maintain good digestive health and prevent obesity, a common problem in pet prairie dogs.
These high-fiber cubes provide the long fiber length needed to stimulate natural chewing behavior which aids in good dental health. The large cubes stimulate the prairie dog's innate playful nature by encouraging tactile behavior.
Prairie dogs should always have access to loose grass hay to provide mental enrichment and stimulation, and to encourage natural feeding behavior. Since Prairie Delight contains long strands of hay, which provides effective fiber, it may be fed as a complete feed if high quality grass hay is not available.Top Menu |

Regal Rat has been formulated with guidance by a combined team of professionals with experience in laboratory animal science, zoo and wildlife nutrition. Members include a leading nutritionist with 25 years of expertise in laboratory animal science, formerly with the National Institutes of Health and a member of National Research Council committees. The result is a nutritionally balanced feed, designed to increase the longevity and well-being of the pet rat.

Regal Rat is a low fat diet designed to meet the nutritional needs of adult rats without life threatening obesity.
Regal Rat is a complete extruded product that prevents selective feeding behaviors that are commonly associated with seed-based diets. Hay should be used not only for nutritional purposes, but also for mental stimulation and the promotion of natural foraging behavior. Try feeding hay in new and inventive ways to increase consumption.Top Menu |
